1) Ex 43 on page 131 in our book
Should we also choose excessive dosage per day? Because 400 mg* 6 times per day = 2400 mg. Max daily dose for naproxen is 1250 mg.
2) Ex 47 on page 135
There is acetaminophen 300+ codeine 30 mg. Is the absence of mg near acetaminophen 300 a mistake?
If we have a prescription like that on exam
Acetaminophen 325
Dis: 20 tablets
Label: take one tablet q 4-6 h, PRN pain
No repeat
Should we choose unacceptable prescription format as mg is absent or incorrect strength of pill prescribed?
3) Ex 52 on page 140
The patient’s age is 13. So here we should use adult doses. Can I add to answers G. Incorrect strength of pill prescribed?
1)We don't select excessive dosage when we have prn pain in sig. 2)This is a typo, please disregard it. Most likely they won't put you in such a dilemma in the exam. :D But IF it happens and you get a prescription like the one you wrote, you can select one or both of these options which ever one you find, because they are both correct in that case. 3) Well, the concept is correct, but if the patient is 15 or 16 I'll select it with no hesitation, even though adult dose is applicable after the age of 12. But if we already have better choices to make in the question, then its better not to compromise them.
