Hi, Dr. Hafez.
I am analyzing a diagnosis template for different cases, but it is confusing.
Would you be able to give your opinion?
1) general tooth problems: common 5
2) gingival enlargement and periodontitis: common 5+bitewing?
3) anterior tooth TFO due to crossbite: common 5+evaluation of the occlusion?
4) 38pericoronitis due to partially impacted tooth:common 5(including PAN, excluding PA?)
**If so, are EPT and thermal test for 37 because 38 should be removed regardless of the results of EPT and thermal test.
5) sinusitis: common 5 (PAN vs PA. Which one of the two would you choose?)
6) Pemphigus: Cytological smear (Anything else?)
Thanks for your time in advance, Dr. Hafez.
This will unfortunately not work for the investigation template.
Each case is different depending on what the chief complaint is.
The "common 5" are only common but not always correct. For example, You cant choose these common 5 for gingival enlargement.
Diagnosing gingival enlargement is based on the patients history (ex: has seizures and is taking phenytoin) and clinical presentation. In this case you cannot justify choosing electric pulp test, thermal test, periapical radiograph etc.
Also for periodontitis, you will not be getting a template like this one, or else they will have to throw in options like pocket depth measurement. Bitewing may be acceptable for crestal bone height inspection. However, they want to know if you can diagnose and treat periodontitis, so they will get the perio templates for such cases. Remember, you will not be getting every template for every patient!
Please note that 2,3,4 and 5 are hence incorrect.
Now for pemphigus, they would get the pathology diagnosis and treatment template, but if they happen to get this template, cytological smear is the only acceptable answer.
